“Chase, wake up.” I whispered into Chase’s ear quietly. It was Christmas morning, and if it weren’t for the bedside clock telling me it was morning I wouldn’t have been able to tell. Thick clouds that covered the sky made it look like it was much earlier than it actually was.

“Five more minutes.” Chase managed to grumble out, burying his head deeper into his pillows and tightening the arm that held me around the waist. I laughed quietly.

“Come on, it’s Christmas morning.” I said still keeping my voice quiet. “I can hear your sisters starting to get up.” I tried to reason with him.

“All the more reason to stay in bed.” He grinned, opening his eyes. “Besides, I thought I was the morning person in this relationship.” He chuckled.

“Christmas equals new rules.” I smirked running my fingers lightly up and down his side.

"It's just another day." he groaned, "Let's just get a few more minutes of sleep."

I grinned, shaking my head, nice try, "Nope. Get up baby." I said.

I pulled the covers off Chase, making him groan louder in protest, "You owe me." He grumbled.

"When we get back to campus, we can screw all day long." I winked at him suggestively, "But until then you have to behave." I said smiling.

He groaned, sitting up, "You owe me." He said again.

I leaned over and kissed him deeply, I could feel his body tighten in response as he kissed me back, "I swear I'll keep my end of the deal if you just get up. You can have me as much as you want when we go back to school." I smiled at him.

He groaned even more, "Fiiiine." he told me, finding a shirt and slipping it over his head.

I grinned, "You're so cute in the morning." I teased him.

He smirked and pulled me close to his side, "You're cuter." he winked.

"Chaaase!!"Angela’s, Chase’s mother, voice reached our room, "Are you awake?!"

He sighed, "Yes Mom. Leila and I are coming down." He called down loudly. We went down stairs and soon enough everyone was done opening presents. Angela was still obsessing over an antique necklace Jason had given here, and Rox and Nic were chatting excitedly about something that was going completely over my head. But still just the warmth and comfort of a peaceful and happy Christmas morning was the best thing to me, and I soaked it all up. Chase sat next to me, his arm wrapped comfortably around the top of my shoulders talking to his dad. Everything about the scene in front of me was perfect and I wished it would never end.

“Are you having fun?” Chase’s voice broke me out of my thoughts. I looked up at him with a smile.

“Yes of course, everything is perfect.” I said happily. “Do you like what I got you?” I asked.

“You did awesome babe, you know me so well.” He grinned. “And how about you? Did you get everything you wanted?”

“Yes and even more, you spent way too much on me.“ I said punching him lightly on his leg.

“Ah well it was worth it seeing your face.” He grinned happily. “And actually there’s one more present. I saved it for last.” He said obviously excited.

“Chase no! You’ve given me more than enough, just being with you on Christmas here was perfect.” I said truthfully. This was by far my happiest Christmas, and not because of the presents, but instead for the company.

“Trust me it’s just a little something. Stay here.” He said pushing my shoulders back to the couch before running upstairs. I sighed, shaking my head at him.

“Do you all know what he’s so excited about?” I asked his family. But of course they all had the same excited smiles.

“We don’t know a thing.” Angela said biting her lip to keep from grinning too wide.

“Scouts honor!” Rox said holding up three fingers.

“You haven’t ever been a scout Rox.” Nic said shoving her shoulder, and she just shrugged. “A girl can dream can’t she?”

I was about to say something but just then Chase came down with a large box in his hands that was perfectly wrapped. He set it down in my lap before sitting back down next to me. “Chase really I don’t need more presents!” I said exasperated.

“Just open it, and if you don’t like it, or you have something like it I’ll just return it.” He said shrugging, trying to hide his excitement. I gave him a hard look before undoing the bow on top. I opened the wrapping paper carefully as I felt everyone’s eyes on me. As the paper came away I was met with the signature robins egg blue that was a tell tale sign of Tiffany’s.

“Chase what the hell?!” I said seeing the box, I could only imagine what he could’ve gotten me that would have fit in this particular size of a box.

“Just open it Leila.” He said still grinning. I lifted the top of the box and instead of being met with more of that signature blue, I saw a large red velvet box. I felt my eyebrows draw together as I looked at him, he nodded back to the box.

“Go on, you’re not going to know what’s inside till you open it.” I lifted the lid carefully and I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth in shock when I saw what lay inside. I turned to Chase, my eyes tearing up.

“You didn’t!” I said feeling the tears fall down my cheeks.

“I don’t know, what is it?” He shrugged grinning. I turned back to the item that lay nestled perfectly in the black satin. I lifted it carefully from the satin, almost afraid to touch it and opened the cover as gently as I could to see the publication details inside. It was a first print of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. It was my absolute favorite book, I couldn’t count the number of times I’ve read it even if I had wanted to.

“It’s a first print of Sense and Sensibility.” I said crying harder as I lay it back into the satin so I could throw my arms around Chase tightly.

“Well I didn’t want you to cry Leila.” He said laughing lightly while hugging me back but pulling my face from his shoulder so he could wipe a tear away from my cheek. “Do you like it?” He asked.

“Yes of course! I love it Chase, this was the most perfect gift anyone could have ever given me!” I said still crying. I took his face in both of my hands and kissed him deeply, the rest of his family around us completely forgotten. He tightened his arms around my waist and smiled against my lips.

“Oh god, get a room!” I heard Rox say making fake retching noises. I puled away from our tight embrace, my embarrassment clearly written on my face.

“Leave them alone Rox.” Angela said scolding them like the mother she was.

Chase pulled away, a glare already on his face as he looked at his sister, "Oh shut up."

She smirked at him, "You know, it's weird to see you all lovey-dovey with someone. Honestly I made a bet with Nic that this day would never happen."

He glared even more, "Shut up."

"Seriously, we kind of all thought you were a man-wh*re." She smirked at him.

"Roxanne, please stop." Angela told her as she sighed in defeat.

"Fine." She said stopping.

I smiled at him, "Thank you Chase. This was the perfect gift." I smiled at him happily and kissed him quickly again.

"I'm glad you loved it." He told me.

"Alright, it is now time to clean up and cook. We do have to make dinner tonight." Angela said getting up along with Jason.

I stood up quickly, I had already planned on helping earlier. "Can I help?" I offered.

Angela smiled and shook her head, "Just relax. You're our guest. Rox, Nic, please help me."

Rox pouted, "She just offered to help you!"

"You're my daughter, not her. Come on." She beckoned the two of them, leaving Chase and I alone in the living room, I could still hear their faint objections over having to help cook as they walked.

I pouted, "Is she sure? I'd be more than happy to help."

Chase chuckled, "You've stayed here for a week, has she let you help once?" I bit my lip and shook my head.

“No,” I sighed, “ I just feel so bad! Your mom does everything.” I said sitting back down leaning my head against his shoulder, running my fingers over the satin that surrounded the book.

“Get used to it, I doubt she’ll ever let you help.” He chuckled kissing the top of my head.

“Well now what are we supposed to do? I was planning on helping with dinner.” I sighed closing the lid to the book and setting it down to the side of me.

“Hmm, I can think of a few things.” He said his voice low as his arm around my shoulder slipped down to my hip.

I looked up at him with an eyebrow raised “Really? You want to fool around as your family is cooking Christmas dinner downstairs?” I asked him, though with the way our kiss earlier had been cut short I wasn’t exactly opposed.

“The turkey will take at least four hours, we’ll have plenty of time.” He said eyeing my breasts before looking back up at me with a smirk.

“Four hours? I think that might even be a test for your endurance.” I teased him.

“Challenge accepted.” He grinned scooping me up making me let out a surprised squeak.

“You are insatiable!” I whispered to him as he hurried us both up the stairs.

“Only for you.” He grinned as he pushed open his door, kicked it closed behind us and then locked it.

"Is this bad?" I asked with a grin, "Having sex in my boyfriends room at his parents house?"

He shook his head, "Not when your boyfriend is me. Especially when I've been really good this vacation." He smirked as he leaned in to kiss me.

"Good? You call f*ngering me good behavior?" I teased him, smiling as his lips pressed against mine.

He shrugged, "I could have f*cked you..." like that was any kind of excuse.

I laughed, "Great way to justify it baby."

He pulled me tight against his body and tugged down roughly at my pajama bottoms. “I am very smart.” He grinned, his hands resting on my a.ss.

I nodded, "Super smart. And extremely good looking." Might as well give his ego an extra stroke.

"Well, you must be f*cking lucky." He smirked down at me.

I grinned and raised a brow, "What about you?"

He smiled, and leaned down to kiss me, "I'm pretty damn lucky as well…" he pushed my pajama bottoms completely down this time and held my body tightly to his.

"Chase!!!" Angela’s distinct yell reached us and Chase groaned in protest, "Can you please help us with dinner?!".

I bit my lip, trying, unsuccessfully, to hide my grin, "You okay?" I asked.

He nodded, "Yeah, but I definitely am not hard anymore." He sighed.
“I bet I could fix that for you later on tonight.” I smirked at him as I slipped my pajama bottoms back on, “Besides you wouldn’t want to go downstairs with a tent.” I said walking towards his door.

“True, and I’m holding you to that promise tonight.” He grinned as we walked out into the hallway.

“I look forward to it.” I said with a small laugh as we went down stairs to help cook Christmas dinner.

((Collab with the wonderful @nadiaa))
ps sorry tho is so late boo, and thank you for being so patient!!

I sat down across from the over eager reporter, gearing myself up for the round of controversy questions that were going to come my way. Over the past few years it seemed inevitable a few select questions would always come up, and no matter how many times I answered them, people still were waiting for a different answer.

A volley of assistants hovered over me, adjusting my mike here, fiddling with my shirt there, making sure from every angle I was perfect as I could be. But soon enough they were done and it was time for the cameras to roll.

“Miles, it’s great to have you here today.” The interviewers said warmly.

“Of course Scott I’m happy to be here.” I responded cordially with a matching smile.

“So for the sake of time, we get strait to the questions I know everyone is wanting to know.” He said adjusting his clipboard. I nodded for the go ahead. “Rumors have been circulating that there will be a long awaited marriage between you and long time girlfriend Haprer coming up in the near future, after she was seen photographed with a rather large ring on her ring finger. Can you give us a comment about this?” He leaned forward, ready to take in every word I had to say. Thankfully I already knew the answer to this one, Haper and I had talked it over and she thought this would be a perfect platform to debut our engagement.

“Well Scott, those rumors are actually very true. “ I smiled happily. “Our five year anniversary was just a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it would be the perfect time to pop the question.” I said letting my ankle rest on my other knee comfortably.

“Well congratulations are in order then! Do you have any time set for the wedding?” He asked.

“Nothing is set in stone just yet, but Harper seems to like the idea of a spring wedding. So possibly next spring or the year after that.” I said still smiling.

“That’s sounds fantastic, are there any other big plans on the horizon for you two? Possibly a baby brother or sister for Ava?” He asked raising his brow.

I chuckled, “Not right this moment. Our lives work perfectly right now with Ava, but it is a definite possibility for the future. I mean we’ve talked about it a bit, but as of right now, no immediate plans for another baby.” I said taking a sip of water. I knew Harper was toying with the idea of getting pregnant again, and I would support her completely if that’s what she wanted, but right now she seemed to just want to enjoy Ava as much as she could.

“Well who knows, the next baby could be another surprise like Ava? How was that for you by the way?” He asked. And now were entering territory I wasn’t completely comfortable with. I really disliked it when people, especially reporters who talked about Ava being a surprise, I always felt the way they asked there questions were badly phrased.

I took a deep breath, ”Well if Harper were to become pregnant unexpectedly again, I think we would both be completely overjoyed, just as we were with Ava.” I said simply. There, that was a polite but vague answer.

“Of course, it’s just with Ava you were so much younger, I couldn’t imagine what that must’ve been like.” He prodded. I had a feeling the answer I had given wouldn’t be enough.

“It was probably one of the best times of my life, the present being excluded of course, yes it wasn’t what I had planned, or thought would happen, but I find that those great surprises life throws at you are the best and are always so much more rewarding than anything you could’ve planned for yourself. At first I was a little scared, I was just learning how to take care of myself, and now I had another human being to take care of. But as soon as I held her in my arms and saw her perfect little face staring up at me with such utter trust and love, all my worries were erased.” Ok that last little bit was a lie, I was still scared sh!tless sometimes. But he didn’t need to know that.

He nodded satisfied with my long answer and I breathed a sigh of relief, that topic was done and over with. He moved onto the more mundane parts of my life, work and social mostly. And soon enough we were done and I was on my way home.

“Harper honey, I’m home!” I called out as I opened the door. And instead of Harpers’ soothing voice answering me, a shrill scream of delight was what I heard.

“Daddydaddydaddydaddy!” Ava squealed as she rounded the corner running to me. I felt a grin split across my lips as I bent down to catch her as she ran full force at me. She jumped up into my arms and wrapped her arms around my neck snugly.

“Hey Angel.” I said standing up, laughing slightly. “Did you miss me?” I asked walking with her to the kitchen.

“Yes!” She nodded enthusiastically, her pigtails flying. “You were gone all day.” She said.

“I’m sorry Angel, daddy had to work today.” I said setting my keys and wallet down on the counter, Ava still in my arms.

“I know.” She pouted sadly, looking down. She rested her head on my shoulder. I rubber her back gently.

“Where’s Mommy?’ I asked her, taking her with me out of the kitchen. Usually by now Harper would have heard me and come down.

“We were taking a nap but I heard you so I came to see you.” Ava explained.

I checked my watch, it was pretty late for Harp to be taking a nap. “Lets go see her.” I said setting her down so we could walk up the stairs.

“Ok daddy, but we have to be quiet, mommy doesn’t feel good.” She said holding a finger up to her lips and shushing me. I felt my eyebrows draw together but I nodded along as we climbed the stairs.

When we got to my room I slowly opened the door to see Harper curled up on the bed sleeping. I walked quietly over to her and gently woke her by brushing my hand across her face. “Harper honey, I’m home.” I whispered. Ava crawled up onto the bed and laid down next to her.

“Hey baby.” She said giving me a weak smile.

“How are you doing? Ava said you didn’t feel good.” I said worriedly.

“It’s nothing, I think I’ve just got the flu or something.” She said sitting up and adjusting Ava so she sat in her lap.

"How was the interview?" Harper asked, sniffling.

"Fine, of course the first question they asked was about the engagement, which I told them the truth." I said pushing back her hair behind her ear.

"How'd the reporter react?" She gave me a small smile.

"He gave us a congratulations, but he said he saw a bunch of pictures with you wearing an engagement ring, so I'm sure he wasn't too shocked." I smirked.

She nodded, "Got it." she said, then turned her head to the side and coughed violently.

"Harper, you need to call the doctor." I asked getting more concerned by the minute.

She shook her head, "I'll be find Miles. It's just a cold or something-"

"And if it's the flu?" I questioned.

She just shrugged, "Then you both need to get away from me asap."

Ava pouted, "But Mommy, I want to take care of you!"

"But baby, I don't want you getting sick. Miles, please." She said pouting at me.

"Well then how can I help?" I asked.

"I want chicken noodle soup from the bistro down the street." She gave me a small grin, "And some sourdough bread…"

I grinned widely, "Done. I'll have them deliver. What do you want princess?" I asked Ava, pulling her into my lap.

"Grilled cheese and tomato soup." She smiled, even though it wasn't a surprise… it was what she always got. And I mean always, I was beginning to think there were no other food options in Ava’s eyes.

"That sounds really good. I think I'll get it too." I said, calling the bistro and ordering. "Alright, should be here in about 20 minutes."

Harper grinned, "Thank you."

"Now what else do you need? I'm here to help you tonight." I told her.

"Well, I don't need much help, but our little girl needs a bath tonight." She smiled.

"But Mommy!" She protested loudly. Bath time was never a favorites of Ava’s.

"You have to take a bath, no buts. By the time you're done, the food will be here darling." Harper ran her fingers through her hair.

She pouted but gave in, "Fine Mommy."

“Come on, the sooner you get in the bath the sooner we can be done.” I said holding my hand out to her. She took my and somewhat regretfully and I pulled her from the bed. We walked down the hall until we got to her bathroom which was floor to ceiling bright, bubblegum pink. I ran the bath while Ava ran and got her pajamas. But she came back with a princess costume.

“Ava sweetie, that’s for play time.” I chuckled.

“But I want to wear it.” She said holding it up higher in front of her as if that would help reason.

“Go on and get real jammies Ava. You can wear it tomorrow.” I said getting out a towel for her. She sighed loudly but did what I asked her. About 15 minutes later Ava was squeaky clean and in fresh pajamas. And just as I was done cleaning up the mess that always happened with bath time, I heard the door bell ring.

Ava trailed behind me as I went downstairs and paid for dinner. I plated every thing and Ava helped me carry napkins up to Harper so she could have dinner in bed. I opened our bedroom door slowly incase she had fallen asleep. But she was awake watching some celebrity gossip channel. She saw Ava though and changed it to the history channel.

“Hey babe.” I said setting down the tray over her lap.

“Thank you Miles, you didn’t have to do this.” She said sitting up some more.

“I helped!” Ava chimed in excitedly, holding out a napkin to her, which she had folded into a triangle.

“And thank you Angel.” She said smiling.

"You're welcome Mommy." She grinned, dipping her grilled cheese into her tomato soup and took a big bite.

"So what did you two do today?" I asked getting comfortable.

"I learned more French Daddy!!" Ava grinned, "Mommy taught me more stuff."

Harper grinned as she beamed, "So what did you learn?" I asked her.

"Vous êtes le meilleur papa du monde." She said happily.

I grinned, "And what does that mean baby?" I was getting pretty good with French, which was expected considering we had been living here for the past 5 years.

"You are the best Daddy in the world." She blushed, leaning over into my lap.

I grinned widely, that was always nice to hear, "That's amazing Ava. Do you know how to say 'I have the most beautiful daughter in the world?'" I asked her as she blushed even more and then turned her head towards Harp for a translation.

"J'ai la plus belle fille du monde." She answered.

"J'ai la plus belle fille du monde." She repeated to me as I leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"Beautiful." I told her, "How's the soup baby?" I asked Harper.

She nodded, biting into a piece of the sourdough roll, "Perfect, thank you for ordering it baby." She said, I could see more light coming to her face as she ate.

"You're welcome." I said taking a bite of my own grilled cheese.

"Can we watch The Little Mermaid mommy?" Ava asked with wide eyes.

Harp nodded as she coughed a little, "Yes honey, can you go get it?" she asked Ava politely as she pouted and gave me her signature big ole' puppy eyes. I tried hard not to give into them, but the quivering little lip sent me over the edge, I could never say no to that face, giving up I smirked and nodded.

"I'll go get it princess." I said, kissing her head as I walked out. I walked into Ava’s bed room, almost tripping over some barbies, but I got the DVD and brought it back. I put the DVD into play and hopped back onto bed with the only women in my life. Ava sat under my arm, curled close to me as the beginning credits opened.

“Happy Ava?” I asked with a small smile. She beamed back up at me.

“Thank you Daddy.”

I fin.gered the edge of my skirt nervously as we drove towards Chase’s home. I was meeting his parents for the first time and I couldn’t be any more nervous. We pulled up to a gated community and the guard greeted Chase by name before buzzing us through.

“What if they don’t like me?” I asked turning in my seat towards Chase.

He grinned, eyes still on the road “Trust me they’ll like you. You’re the only girl I’ve ever brought home, that alone puts you way high up on their list.” He took my hand in his and ran his thumb across my knuckles reassuringly. “Besides, what’s not to like?” He chuckled.

“I don’t know.” I sighed looking outside the window, “What if I’m just not what they are expecting?” I wondered.

“Don’t worry about it babe.” he said as we pulled up to a large home, “We’re here.”

My eyes widened as I looked up at the large house, “Wow, it’s huge.”

“Thanks.” He smirked getting out of the car and before I could get mine open he was there opening it for me.

“Chase, how many times do I have to tell you, I can open my own door.” I sighed, giving him a small smile as he helped me from the car.

“And how many times do I have to tell you, it doesn’t matter.” he chuckled.

“A few more times I guess.” I smirked as we walked towards the door. Chase raised his hand to open the door, but a middle aged woman beat him to it, and by the look on her face as soon as her eyes met Chase’s I could only assume it was his mother.

She grinned widely, “Oh Chase!” She said excited as she rushed forward, kissing his cheek and wrapping her thin arms around his neck.

“Hey Mom.” He said smiling as he wrapped his arms around her.

“It’s been too long.” She said, pulling away and resting her hand on his cheek and suddenly she noticed me, “Oh gosh, I’m sorry, I’m being rude. Leila? Chase has said so many good things about you.” She said walking towards me and pulled me into a tight embrace.

“Mom, you’re going to smother her.” Chase said with a chuckle.

“Oh sorry.” She said with a smile as she stepped back from me
“That’s alright Mrs. Pierce.” I said nervously.

“Please, call me Angela.” She said stepping beck from the doorway inside, ushering us inside. Chase and I followed and as we walked forward Chase reached for my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine, the warmth of his hand against mine was reassuring.

“It’s nice to meet you Angela.” I said again, still nervous, “You really have an amazing home.”

“Thank you dear. You are really sweet dear.” Angela looked back at the two of us, “How was the drive down from Berkeley Chase?” She said as we followed her towards the kitchen, which looked like it was the center of all the focus in the house.

“Fine.” Chase shrugged, “Leila slept great though.” He teased me, giving me a small smile as we sat down on stools.

My mouth dropped, “You told me I could!”

He grinned, “I know. I’m joking baby.” he leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. When he pulled back, his mother had a big grin spread across her face as she rested her hand on her chest, “Mom, please don’t.” Chase said exasperated.

“Don’t what?!” She asked as she shrugged, pulling out a pitcher of lemonade from the refrigerator and glasses from the cabinet.

“Don’t get all emotional because I brought a girl home for you to meet.” he raised his brow at her, “Leila and I are in a serious relationship, but that is no reason to start thinking about grandchildren.” I laughed at his explanation, which was pretty spot-on as Angela began pouring us lemonade.

“I haven’t been thinking about grandchildren… it just crossed my mind.” She said, putting the pitcher back in the fridge.

“Well, please don’t. For once in my life I have an actual relationship that I want to keep… I don’t want to rush and mess it up.” He gave me a small smile, which I returned.

“Fine baby. I won’t grill you two anymore… I just want to know how you two met.” She grinned.

Chase sighed as I rubbed his thigh, “He hit on me in class and I felt bad enough to go on a date with him.” I laughed.

He raised a brow, “You felt bad? I don’t remember it being that way.” The look he gave me made me grin wider.

“I’m a good actress.” I winked.

“Right.” He said smirking.

“Well I mean you were trying so hard and all.” I laughed quietly, taking a sip of my lemonade; it was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“No, that was not me trying hard, me trying hard was dragging you out of bed to take you to breakfast on the weekend for our second date.” He chuckled, his mother watched us with a glowing smile on her face.

“Well of course! You woke me from my beauty sleep.” I smirked at him before ducking my head.

“Chase you should know better than to ever wake a woman from her beauty sleep.” Angela scolded him sarcastically.

“That’s ok, it was worth it.” He grinned at me before wrapping an arm around my shoulders to pull me close.

Angela started to say something, but a male’s voice rang out. “Is that who I think it is?” A middle aged man stepped out from the hallway.

“Hey dad.” Chase said standing up to give his father a big hug.

“It’s been too long,” His father said letting him go.

“That’s what mom said.” He chuckled stepping back to stand beside me. “Dad, this is Leila, Leila this is my dad.” He said snaking an arm around my waist.

“Hello, Mr. Pierce, it’s great to finally meet you.” I said offering him my hand, he didn’t seem nearly as hug friendly as Angela had.

“I could say the same thing, you’re all Chase talks about whenever we can get him on the phone. And please, Mr. Pierce is my father, call me Jason.” He grinned taking my hand in a firm hand shake.

“It’s nice to meet you.” I smiled at his father.

“You said she was pretty Chase, but pretty is an understatement.” He said, shocking me a little bit, it was flattering of course, but a little unexpected.

“Dad.” Chase said, giving him a look, clearly embarrassed.

“What? I’m just saying you did good Chase.” He smirked at his son.

Chase sighed, and ran his hands through his hair as I grinned at him, “It’s okay Chase.” I said, leaning over so I could give him a quick peck on his cheek, “I’m glad you’ve been saying nice things about me to your parents.” I winked. He smirked back at me, pleased.

"So how are your sisters Chase?" Jason asked as he walked to the other side of the kitchen and kissed Angela on the cheek.

Chase nodded, "Doing well. Nicola is doing summer school and Rox met a bunch of people and got a job."

"Good. Did she do well this first year?" Angela asked as she poured a glass for Jason.

Chase nodded, "Really well." he smiled.

"Good. I'm glad." His dad smiled, "So let's go outside. It's nice out."
We all grabbed our glasses and went out on the patio and sat down.

"So how are your classes going Chase? Are you all set to graduate next year?" His father eyed him, which made me grin, he knew his son well.

Chase nodded, "Yes I'm all set to graduate next spring." Most likely only because I forced him to do his school work, denying se.x was a great motivator some times.

His dad smiled, "I'm really proud of you Chase," He turned towards me, "So what's your major Leila?"

“It’s a double major in Greek mythology, and Latin.” I said waiting for the inevitable disappointment; no one ever seemed to understand my fascination with the two subjects.

“That’s interesting, what made you decide on those?” His father asked, genuine curiosity across his features.

“Well, Greek mythology, purely because I find it interesting. Chase knows, if there’s a documentary on there’s really no way to get my attention.” I laughed looking up at him.

“Which is really irritating, especially when football happens to be on.” He said rolling his eyes at me playfully.

“Oh hush. And Latin because I love learning different languages, and understanding Latin, really is a nice bridge to understanding multiple languages, because they all have the same roots.”

“I would have never guessed that.” Angela said happily, which took me by surprise, I would have guessed the two of them would have looked down on such useless majors

“Most people don’t.” I smiled.

“Leila is a very surprising person.” Chase grinned down at me.

“I’m hoping in a good way?” I asked raising my eyebrow and taking a sip of my lemonade.

“You already know the answer to that babe.” Chase smirked at me. Angela had that look on her face again, like she was thinking of grandchildren, which made me smile.

Chase caught the look Angela was giving us, “Mom.” He said exasperated.

She furrowed her brows, “What?!”

“Stop your mind from running. Now because I know what you’re thinking.” He said seriously.

“Oh pish posh. I’m not thinking of anything. So what would you two like for dinner?” She smiled, “I can make whatever you guys want.” She said changing the subject so quickly and smoothly, you almost didn’t notice what she was doing.

“I’m not picky Mrs. Pierce.” I said, wrapping my hand around Chases’ hand.

“It’s Angela and really I can make you whatever you want. Anything in particular that’s your favorite?” She smiled at the two of us.

“Her lasagna is pretty good.” Chase said to me with a shrug.

I smiled back at Angela, “Lasagna sounds amazing.”

“Well then let’s get to it.” She said as she finished off her lemonade and grabbed the glasses.

“Angela, is there anything I can help you with?” I asked, picking up the glasses, I felt bad just sitting back while she did everything.

She shook her head and smiled, “No dear, I promise I’m good. Chase, you should grab your bags and take them upstairs and then show Leila around.” She smiled at Chase.

“I wouldn’t argue with her, she won’t let you help.” Chase smirked at me as I sighed.

“Alrighty, let’s go get our bags.” Chase nodded to me as we walked outside, grabbed all our bags and headed upstairs, presumably to his bedroom.

Chase smiled at me once we were upstairs, he pulled me snug against his body and kissed me deeply, “Are you okay?” He asked me quietly, lips brushing against mine with every word.

I nodded, “Yeah… Do you think they like me?” I asked curiously.

He grinned and kissed my lips again, “They love you.”

I blushed deeply, “Really?” Chase nodded as I breathed out a sigh of relief, “Thank god.” He laughed lightly as he took my hand

“There was nothing to be nervous about.” He said.

I shrugged as I sat down on his huge bed, “I have never met a guys parents…” I looked around the room, “So is this where all the magic happens?” I grinned at him, making him laugh.

“Yeah, it is.” he winked.

“So how many girls have you had here?” I questioned with a laugh.

“Not too many.” He shrugged, “A few here and there, none as special as you.” He said saving himself.

“Great way to save your a.ss.” I laughed as he shook his head, leaning in to kiss me.

“If you want, you can be the last one to be in here with me.” he winked.

“What?” I raised a brow, “You’re saying, you want to screw while your parents are home?” I asked.

He shrugged, “It’s always a possibility.” He smirked at me suggestively.

“I’m pretty sure your mom told you to show me around Chase.” I smirked spreading my legs so they hugged the side of his hips, making my skirt ride up.

“Hmm, well we wouldn’t want to go against her wishes would we?” he asked spanning his fingers across the top of my thighs, smirking. I shook my head and bit my lip at his expression, “Well, to your left is the bath room, back behind you is my closet, and as you know, this is my bed. I think that will suffice for now.” He grinned threading his fingers into my hair.

I giggled, “Aren’t you worried you parents will catch us?” I said quietly wrapping my arms around his waist.

“Not if we’re quiet.” he chuckled leaning down to kiss me deeply.

“You know I have a problem with that Chase.” I said pulling away from his lips for a second.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got you.” He said leaning down again to kiss me gently. His lips moved slowly over mine and my mouth opened under his. The feeling of his tongue massaging mine made me moan quietly and move my hips against his. I slid my hands under the material of his shirt to the hard planes of his stomach.

I gripped the edge of his shirt and started to raise it. He took his lips away from mine, only long enough to get the shirt off and toss it behind him on the floor and then he was kissing me again, more urgently this time. I ran my hands across his chest, it wasn’t overly muscled the way some guys’ were, it was perfect.

Chase moved his lips from mine down my neck and collar bone after we both couldn’t stand, just kissing any longer. “Chase, did you lock the door?” I asked a little breathless.

“Fu.ck.” He muttered leaving me on the bed to go to his door and lock it. I took the opportunity to scoot back further onto the bed and lay back to kick off my heels. He came back and crawled onto his bed to hover over me on all fours. “Now where were we?” He asked grinning, his hand moving from my hip, teasingly over my breasts and up to my neck.

“You were working your way south.” I grinned up at him.

“Right.” He chuckled leaning over me to kiss me quickly but deeply before his lips roamed down across my neck only stopping when he got to the neckline of my top. “This shirt is new, how do I get it off?” He asked feeling my sides for a zipper.

“Easy,” I smirked, sitting up and reaching for the simple bow that was hidden underneath my hair, with just a tug the whole front of my top fell forward, revealing the practically see through, black lace bra I wore. It pushed my breasts forward and out so my breasts looked like they were ready to spill out. Chase groaned, his hands eagerly running across them. I let my head fall back at the sensations of his thumbs running across my skin through the soft lace.

“I’m so torn.” He said quietly, his voice hoarse. “Keep the bra on, or take it off?” he asked himself seriously, his fingers continually running over my breasts. I squirmed restlessly underneath him and bit my lip hard to keep from making any noise.

“Chase please.” I whispered arching into his hands. I reached down between us and began working on the buttons on his jeans.

“Ah, ah.” He grinned gripping my wrists in one of his hands, then pinning them above my head with his hand. “I’m not done with you yet, and as soon as you get your hands around my co.ck it’ll be over too quickly.” He said, his hands never stopped their torture across my breasts.

“You are so frustrating!” I said trying to lift my hands from the fluffy comforter. He easily kept them pressed down to the bed.

“And you are so impatient.” He grinned down at me, enjoying my se.xual frustration, clearly. The slight trapped feeling I got from him pinning my wrists down mixed with the fear of getting caught only added to my need to have him inside me.

I groaned, of course I was! “Yes I am. You keep teasing me Chase.” I whined as he just smirked down at me. And if he didn’t do something soon, I just might explode.

“Chase! Leila! Dinner is ready!” Chase’s mother’s voice was like a splash of ice cold water across my body. I could just imagine her coming up the stairs and seeing us like this.

“F*ck!” I said quickly, pushing Chase off of me, I reached for the ties to my shirt and held them out to Chase frantically. “Tie this for me please!” I said hurriedly.

He sighed, tying the top back up “Fine . . .”

“I knew it was a bad idea.” I said pouting, “You should not be seducing me in your parents house.” I said scolding him. Though honestly I was more mad that we didn’t get to finish what we started. I couldn’t imagine what dinner was going to be like now.

He smirked, “You didn’t seem to be so against it Leila.” I turned back to face him. He was right but still, we shouldn’t have.

“Shut up.” I pouted as he leaned down to kiss me quickly.

“Alright I’m sorry.” He said bending down to grab his shirt and slip it back on, “We can f*ck later tonight when my parents are asleep.” He smirked at me suggestively.

Yeah right, like I was going to let that happen after this, “No, I am off limits for the rest of this trip.” I said giving him a look.

He smirked again, “We’ll see.”

Let's Stay Together - Al Green

“But I don’t want you to go.” Ava pouted as she stared up at Harper and I, all dressed up. Just about to leave.

“I know baby, but mommy and daddy are having a special night.” Harper knelt down, tucking a strand of Ava’s hair behind her ear.

“Are you sure I can’t go too?” She said pouring it on thick now, those little puppy dogs eyes nearly got me every time.

“Yes Ava, now the sooner we leave the sooner we can come back.” I said kneeling down next to Harper so I could look her in the eye. She made a face but nodded along anyway, I thanked god everyday she was such a great kid.

“Besides you’ll have lots of fun with Auntie Ava.” Harper smiled up at her best friend, who oddly enough was now happily married. And I hoped by the end of the night Harper and I would be right on her tail. I swallowed hard thinking about it all for a moment, the weight of the ring in my pocket suddenly amplified, but I pushed the thoughts back.

“We can play games and watch movies,” She smiled down at Ava, and at the mention of games she began to perk up a little, her entire face brightened.

“Can we play duck-duck-goose?” She asked excitedly turning fully to Ava.

“I’m not sure I remember how to play that game, you may have to teach me.” The older Ava said. Our Ava was positively tickled pink about the idea of teaching a grownup something and she began pulling her to her playroom, already listing off rules.

“I guess that’s our que to leave.” I chuckled, as I helped Harp into her jacket. Harper shook her head and grabbed her purse.

“Who knew we’d be so easily replaced by a game.” She laughed lightly.

“I saw it coming.” I smirked opening up the door for her, heading out to the car which was already warming up.

“Oh did you now?” She asked eyeing me playfully as I walked passed her to open up her car door. “Thank you.” She murmured sliding into the seat. I jogged back around and got into the driver’s seat.

“Well didn’t you know? I know everything.” I said smiling at her, I could barely see her face in the dimly lit car but I managed to see her roll her eyes.

“Does all that knowledge include our destination for tonight?” She asked curiously. I smirked, she hated not knowing where we were going, which was partly the reason I had kept it a secret.

“It does,” I nodded pulling out a piece of black silk from an inside pocket of my jacket, “And just so you don’t start guessing, I’m going to blindfold you.” I said leaning over to her and placing the cloth over her eyes.

“Miles, this really isn’t fair.” She mildly protested as I tied it snug against her scalp

“Come on, just relax and trust me,” I said softly before leaning in and kissing her. She was a little surprised by the move, but after her initial shock her lips softened against mine and she kissed me back leaning into me. I pulled away after a moment and smiled to see her cheeks were flushed a gorgeous pink.

“Fine, I trust you.” She smiled and settled back into the seat.

“Good.” I smiled, and held her hand for a moment before pulling it back so I could finally drive the car. Harper continued to ask questions, trying to get some kind of hint that would reveal where we were going. But no matter what she asked I didn’t give anything away.

Then again, even if I did tell her where it was, she still wouldn’t guess or believe me just because as far as she was concerned the place I was taking her to was absolutely impossible to get reservations for. But I knew beyond a doubt if I could take her one place without limitations it would be this place. Every time it was brought up in conversation or she saw yet another rave review in some fancy French magazine, she would go on and on about it for days afterward, sometimes even for a week. And it did take a lot to get in, plenty of name dropping, the reason it had to be this night at this restaurant, just to get a reservation, but with a little more name dropping and quite a bit of money I had managed to get the whole place to ourselves. The entire wait staff just for us, and all of Harpers favorite foods were being prepared. I wanted to make this night as perfect as possible for her, she deserved nothing but perfect.

I took my eyes off the road for a moment so I could look at her face. “You know I love you.” I said gently, looking back at the road.

“I love you too, but this whole surprise thing may change that.” She said disgruntled. I smiled.

“It’ll be worth it.” I hoped. What if she said no? What if she threw the ring in my face and laughed, what the h.ell was going to happen then? Would we be together anymore, or would things just be too distant and awkward between us? What would happen to Ava? I had to stop myself before I had thought myself in a circle, back into being convinced proposing would be a terrible idea.

“It better be.” She said

“I promise baby.” I grabbed her hand and kissed it lightly, “We’re here. Just wait.” I stopped the car and got out so I could open her door for her, “It’s me Harper.” I took her hand and helped her out of the car.

“We’re in the city.” She smirked after listening to the sounds of the night life for a moment.

“Yeah, we are, just relax.” I told her.

“Miles! I’m wearing six-inch heels and a short dress. It’s not good to be walking around blindfolded!” she pouted.

“Okay.” I said, scooping her up into my arms. Problem solved.

“Miles! What are you doing?” she squealed out.

“You don’t have to worry about tripping because I’ll carry you. Relax baby.” I said walking towards the restaurant.

“Is my a.ss showing?” she whispered to me, I chuckled, like I would ever let that happen, at least not where anyone but myself could see it.

“No baby. I promise, and I’m about to set you down.” I said doing so, “Just hold my hand and I’ll take your blindfold off in a second.”

We walked inside and the waitstaff were all waiting with amused smiles, I slid the blindfold from her eyes and let her see exactly where she was. “Miles! You brought me here?” she smiled brightly, “Really? You can take a hint!” she grinned, giving me a big hug and a kiss, “Are they closed or something though?” she asked curiously.

I shook my head, “It’s just us two tonight. I bought out the place for the night.”

Her eyes widened, “Miles, that must have cost a fortune!! Oh my god!”

“It’s all for you baby, this is a really important day for us. It’s been five years and we’re still together! We have a beautiful daughter together and I want to celebrate it, here.” I smiled and kissed her cheek as we were seated.

“Miles, this is amazing.” She bit her lip and looked like she was going to choke as she looked across the menu.

“I can already tell what you’re thinking Harper, just relax.” I smiled, “This is our night and we’re going to enjoy it to the fullest.”

“You always know how to make me feel better baby.” She smiled, blushing a little.

“Good,” I smiled across the table at her. “And if you don’t mind, I had them make all of your favorite dishes ahead of time, but if there is something you see on the menu that you like, still order it.” I said, my menu already to the side.

“Oh, well in that case I’ll just have whatever it is they have prepared already.” She said closing her menu happily. The maitre’d came over and took the menus after my nod. Not even five minutes had past when dishes began coming out of the kitchen, and with each one that came out, Harper’s eyes got brighter and bright. And just to see her smiling like that, made it all worth it.

“I’m so full.” Harper said, hands across her stomach.

I chuckled, “Good, I’m glad you enjoyed everything. Was it everything you hoped it would be?” I asked taking another sip of wine.

“Oh god yes! I can see why so many people just rave and rave about it here.” She said, her eyes lighting up.

“Well, we just may have to come back here.” I smirked.

“Can we?” She asked, trying to keep the excited edge from her voice.

“Sure, if that’s what you want.” I nodded smiling at her.

“It is.” She nodded.

“Then of course we can come back. So are you ready to go, I have another little surprise planned for us.” I said

“Oh! Okay, then let’s go.” She said surprised. I stood up and took her hand as she also stood up. At the door we got our coats, and just as we left the last steps of the restaurant, our car pulled up. I opened up her door, and closed it gently behind her.

“Merci.” I said to the valet as I slid into the driver’s seat.

“So what’s the surprise?” she asked with a hopeful smile.

I shook my head, “Nope, I’m not telling you.”

She pouted and sighed, “Okay.” She looked out the window and as soon as she saw where we were pulling up her eyes brightened “You didn’t!!” she looked at me with a wide grin.

I nodded, “I did.”

“But you hate dancing Miles!” She grinned as I pulled up to the valet.

I nodded, “I do. I think I’m an absolute terrible dancer, but you love it.” I smiled at her, “I want to make you happy Harper.”

She grabbed my hand, “You do Miles. You’re an amazing boyfriend and a wonderful father. I wouldn’t have been able to take care of Ava half as well if I didn’t have you…”

“I should thank you Harp… I mean my life was sh*t before I met you. I was an a.sshole, especially to you when we found out you were pregnant. I’m just glad you gave me a second chance.” I said holding her hand tightly.

She smiled at me, “We don’t need to go dancing… let’s just go for a walk.” She said sincerely

“But you love dancing.” I reasoned.

She shook her head, “I love you more.” she winked at me. The valet opened her door and she walked to my side and grabbed my hand, “Come on.”

“You don’t have to do this Harper, we were going to go dancing.” I countered, I knew how much she loved it.

She shook her head, “Look at the Siene and Eiffel Tower. It’s much better than dancing.” she smiled, looking at all the lights.

“Fine,” I smirked at her as we walked hand in hand on the bridge, “I just want the record to show that I was supposed to take you dancing.” I said

She grinned, “I know, and I’m the one who told you to take me walking instead.”

“As long as that’s clear,” I chuckled wrapping my arm around the top of her shoulders, and pulled her snug to my side.

“I won’t hold it against you.” She said, and I could hear the smile in her voice as she leaned her head onto my shoulder. I kissed the top of her head and smiled. Tonight was going perfectly, everything was happened exactly the way I planned. The only part left was the most important part. The ring suddenly felt heavy in my breast pocket, and I could feel my heart quicken. We walked in silence for a few minutes until I steered us toward the edge of the bridge so we were close to the water.

“Isn’t it beautiful?” She asked looking out at the water, creating a mirror image of all the lights.

“Mmm, I don’t know, what I’m looking at is pretty gorgeous.” I murmured looking down at her.

She looked back up at me, with a knowing smile across her lips. “I love you.” She said going up on her toes to kiss me. I wrapped my arm around her back and pressed her closer to me, her body melding into mine. She pulled away and settled back onto her heels.

“Love you too.” I said tucking a strand of hair behind her ear that was blowing across her face in the gentle breeze. I flicked my eyes above her head like I saw something and stiffened my body. ”Hey what’s that?” I asked gesturing across the water. I felt bad interrupting our moment but I knew it would be worth it.

“Huh?” Harper said turning around looking across the water. I dropped down to one knee behind her and got out the ring as quickly as I could from my jacket. She looked for a little longer. “Babe, I don’t see anythi-“ She turned around and looked down at me. Her mouth opened and she gasped, covering her mouth as her eyes began to tear up.

“Harper James, I know that over the years, I’ve put you through a lot. A lot of shit you didn’t deserve.” I swallowed hard, “But through all of that, I’ve fallen for you, hard. I couldn’t be any happier with the way our life has turned out together. And I’d like to spend the rest of my life that way. With you and Ava.” I said, Harper had her hand across her chest, smiling. “So I was wondering, if you’d like to spend the rest of your life with me?” I asked, my voice shaky as I opened the velvet box to her.

“Yes.” She said, tears streaming down her cheeks, “Of course I will.”

“Really?” I asked with a small smile. She still wanted me after everything?

“Absolutely.” she nodded quickly, “I love you so much Miles. You’re the father of my child and even though we had a rough relationship in the beginning, I know you’re my soul mate. So, yes, I’ll marry you.” she grinned at me.

“Thank god. I was so nervous.” I said, slipping the ring onto her slender finger “I was terrified the entire night.” I confessed as I stood up.

She leaned over and gave me a big hug, “So that’s what all of this was for?” she asked, I nodded at her, “I would have said yes if you took me out for burgers and fries.” she joked with me, her eyes shinning.

I grinned, “I wanted it to be special Harp.” I said, she deserved nothing less than special.

She leaned over and kissed me deeply, “It was perfect baby…” she looked down at her left hand, “And the ring is perfect! It’s gorgeous.”

“It was my mother’s ring… I had a new stone put in.” I kissed her temple, relieved that she liked it, I had gone back and forth debating on buying her a new ring, something more modern or revamping my mothers ring.

“It’s perfect. I love it.” she said, grinning at her finger, “You know Ava’s going to want one too, right?”

I laughed, I had kind of figured that, “I’ll buy her one too.” I grinned down at her
